Biology Science Fair Projects

Biology science fair projects focus on the study of living things, whether it be plants, animals, or the relationship between the two. Biology is a great category to choose if you are interested in learning more about either plants or animals. There is still plenty to be learned about the world around us, and surely you must have questions about it. That is where you start your biology science project, with a question. You can use the scientific method to answer your question.

Materials Needed:

Learning About Biology At The Science Fair
Experiment: Which type of food does mold grow on the fastest?
Category: Biology
Ages: Elementary School, Middle School

Interesting biology science projects would be to find out which type of food mold grows on the fastest when stored in the same place. This is quite a simple experiment and requires observation for the most part. All you need to do is get a slice of bread, a slice of cheese and a piece of banana, and then set them on a plate in a cool dry place. In a cupboard or pantry, on a table or on a counter away from direct sunlight are all good places to do the experiment. Once in place, check on the food every other day or so to see if any of them are growing mold. When the first food starts to grow mold, dispose of it and make a note and then wait to see which food will start growing mold next. Continue the experiment until each piece of food has earned its rank. Remember to record your findings!
