Demonstrates scientific principles: Surface tension
If you place a drop of water onto another surface, you will notice a sort of "skin" that hold the water into place. This is known as surface tension. In this experiment, the soap breaks the surface tension at that particular location, but the surface tension remains strong for the rest of the dish. This explains why the liquid disperses to other areas of this dish- due to broken surface tension.
