Good Science Fair Projects
Good science fair projects are incredibly easy to come up with. All you need to do is think of a topic that interests you and put it into play. Any question you have about anything can be turned into a science fair project. Anything from “Why is the sky blue?” to “How do you measure the age of a tree?” to “Do dogs see in color or black and white” can be turned into a good science fair project.

Affecting Popcorn Popping
Experiment: Can you affect how many popcorn kernels will pop?
Category: Physics
Ages: Elementary School (with adult supervision)
One good science project is to see if you can affect how many popcorn kernels will pop if you do things to the kernels before putting them in the popcorn maker. All you need for this experiment is some kernels, some water, a bowl, an oven, a baking tray, a freezer and an air popper.
You can put some of the kernels on a baking sheet and heat them at 220 degrees for a couple hours, put some of the kernels into a bowl with water to soak for a few hours, and put some of the kernels into the freezer for a few hours. When you are ready take the kernels out of the freezer, put them in the air popcorn maker and record your finding; how long did it take the kernels to start popping? How many of them popped? Then take the kernels out of the water, dry them off and put them in the popcorn maker. Record your findings with the kernels that have been soaked. Next, do the same with the ones from the oven, being careful not to get burnt. Record you findings with them as well.
